Nadithaara is a small homestay on a coffee estate in Coorg. Two rooms, a verandah that catches the morning, and water you can hear from bed. Breakfast comes out of our kitchen, not a buffet.

01

River access

Flat rocks, shallow water in the dry months, and nobody else on the bank.

02

Bonfire nights

We keep the wood dry under the stairs. Lit most evenings unless it is pouring.

03

Food from the kitchen

Akki roti, neer dose, wild mango curry when it is in season.

04

Coffee estate walk

The rows start behind the house. Fifteen minutes end to end, longer if you stop.

The rooms

Two rooms, and that is the whole place

Both open off the same verandah and both have their own bathroom with hot water. Weekends, long weekends and the Dussehra to New Year stretch are priced higher. Message us with your dates and we will send the exact figure.

A day here

Nothing on the schedule, which is the point

  1. 6:40 am

    Mist on the water

It sits there until the sun clears the ridge. Take the coffee outside and watch it go.

  2. 8:30 am

    Breakfast on the verandah

Akki roti and chutney, or neer dose with kadala curry. Filter coffee comes first either way.

  3. 11:00 am

    Down to the river

The rocks are flat enough to sit on all morning. Bring a book. The water runs cold.

  4. 4:00 pm

    A loop through the coffee

The rows start behind the house. In November the cherries are red and the whole place smells of them.

  5. 8:00 pm

    Dinner, then the fire

Rice, sambar, a dry fry, wild mango curry if we have it. The bonfire goes up after.

The house

We built it facing the water, which the mason thought was a mistake

The land has been in coffee for a long time. The house is new. We finished it in 2023 and turned it toward the river instead of the road, which meant a longer driveway and a lot of arguing with the mason.

It was worth it. You hear the water from both bedrooms. In the monsoon you hear nothing else.

Nadithaara runs under Mehmaan-E-Kaveri, which is the family name for all this. Nadi is river. Thaara is star. On a clear night in Kodagu you get both at once.

On the way

Things worth stopping for

Most people drive in from Mysuru or Bengaluru. These are on the road, not a detour.

  1. Through Periyapatana

    The forest stretch

Thirty minutes of green on both sides. Windows down. Elephants cross here, so keep to the speed limit.

  2. Kushalnagar

    Golden Temple and Nisargadhama

The Namdroling monastery is twenty minutes off the highway. Nisargadhama is a bamboo island with a hanging bridge, good with kids.

  3. Kushalnagar

    Harangi backwaters and Chiklihole dam

Both quiet on a weekday. Harangi for the still water, Chiklihole when the gates are open.

  4. Near us

    Sathyanarayana Temple

Ten minutes from the house. Go early, before the heat.

  5. Gonikoppa road

    Mathigodu Elephant Camp

Worth the detour if you have an extra morning. Feeding time is the thing to catch.

Guests

What people say after they leave

We did not leave the property once in two days. Sat by the river in the morning, slept in the afternoon, sat by the fire at night. The akki roti was the best thing we ate in Coorg.

Booked it for my parents and they called me twice to say how quiet it was. The caretaker sorted out a vegetarian menu without being asked twice.
ArjunMysuruAugust 2026
Rained the whole weekend and it did not matter. You sit on the verandah and listen to the river come up. Took the whole house with six of us.
FathimaKochiJuly 2026
Clean rooms, hot water that actually stays hot, and a dog that walks the estate with you. Directions over WhatsApp were spot on.
